Good point, why go backwards? Why not take what we have and try something new? Humanity has been stuck in a loop for a long time. How do I break it? Humanity is heading back towards "Atlantis," but they have been there before. Just another step along the loop. How to avoid it? I know how that ends, with blood and disaster, and the reboot. Another moon-watcher rediscovering society and the Game. Half remembered history becomes mangled myths. No One learns from any of it.
There is a time coming when we will be forced to survive in the ruins of our current civilizations ecological overshoot. We can either be thrown to the wolves or lead the tribe by choice.
